Abstract

Objective: to identify and evaluate the ergonomic risk that exists in surgeons when performing surgical procedures such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy, spine surgeries, thyroidectomies, vascular surgery (arteriovenous fistulae confection). Methods: Descriptive observational study. Results: 66% belonged to the male sex, with a predominant marital status of 39% single, followed by 61% married. Conclusion: Surgeons in general present medium and high occupational ergonomic risk which is caused by performing procedures that require a high degree of precision, reaching in different directions and prolonged postures, practicing repetitive dynamic or adynamic postures causing muscular fatigue. The lack of organization of the surgical program affects the surgeons' work performance by causing increased physical fatigue and consequently the presence of low back pain, neck pain and circulatory problems due to prolonged standing.
