Abstract

Objective: to analyze the situational diagnosis of chronic pain in the nursing staff of the critical area. Method: Descriptive observational. The population was taken as 93 nurses who work in the critical areas of the Ambato Canton Hospitals. Results and conclusion: It was possible to make a diagnosis of chronic pain caused by stress, demonstrating, based on the questionnaires applied, that high levels of stress are related to the risk of the appearance of musculoskeletal problems, therefore, pain. It was demonstrated in the present study that 38.7% and 36.5% present high and moderate levels of stress, which is related to the 91.4% of teachers who present a high risk of developing musculoskeletal problems in upper limbs, both in the right limb and in left.
