Abstract

Objective: to identify the most appropriate nursing care for the management of patients with obstetric hemorrhage during the immediate postpartum period and mediate postpartum period. Method: Documentary descriptive. Results and conclusions: In view of this, it was identified that the most recommended management is active for the third stage of labor and constant monitoring for late HPP. Thus, it is verified that uterotonic agents (oxytocin in the first place and misoprostol as a second option) are the first approach, together with bimanual uterine massages. Only if this approach is not effective, more invasive management is recommended, such as uterine tamponade, radiological or surgical approach.
