Abstract

Objective: To analyze the prevalence of herpes simplex virus (HSV) in the oral cavity in patients older than 50 years. Method: Descriptive documentary with review of 15 articles located in PubMed database. Conclusion: The prevalence was determined after measuring the absolute and relative frequency of oral herpes and other pathologies in the selected population group, and then the different frequency distributions were constructed according to the variables age, sex, educational level and concomitance with other oral lesions.
