Abstract

Objective: To establish the relationship between the index of the average number of decayed, missing and filled permanent teeth (CPOD) and the limitation of socialization in 12-year-old schoolchildren in the parish of El Vecino in the city of Cuenca. Methods: A descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study was carried out. The population was selected from the database of the Research Department of the Department of Dentistry of the Catholic University of Cuenca, in which there are 279 records of the parish. Results: In the correlation of the CPOD levels and the severity of the limitation to socialize, through the Tau-b Kendall coefficient a value of 0.672 was obtained, which shows a high relationship between the two variables. Conclusion: it was established that there is a significant analogy between the CPOD index and the limitation to socialize in 12-year-old schoolchildren.
