Abstract

Objective: To know the epidemiological profile of influenza A (H1N1) in the Ambato General Hospital of the IESS during November 2017 to March 2018 by reviewing the clinical-epidemiological records of clinical histories of patients who were admitted with a diagnosis of influenza-like illness.  Methods: Review of clinical-epidemiological records. Results: In relation to the number of suspected cases per month, the month of January 2018 has the highest number with 7 reported cases, with a monthly average between one and three cases, similarly the total number of positive cases was higher in the month of January decreasing to one positive case during the months of February and March respectively. Conclusion: Fever, cough and rhinorrhea were present in 86.67% of the cases. To determine suspected, probable and confirmed cases, clinical, epidemiological and laboratory criteria should be taken into account.
