Generalized anxiety disorder as a factor associated with obesity in adult patients

Objective: To establish the relationship between generalized anxiety disorder as a factor associated with obesity in adult patients. Method: Systematic review and analysis of research published in scientific databases, from 2015 to the present (2022), 2292 articles were found, of which only 23 were selected for data extraction and analysis, the use of the PRISM guide. Results and conclusions: 23 articles were included and were ordered according to the percentage of compliance from highest to lowest, to later collect the data and contributions to the review, which, together with the bias analysis, determined that the information from items as a whole have a moderate risk. A 38% relationship between obesity and anxiety was determined. Causal relationships between obesity and other psychiatric disorders could not be established from the available data.
