Abortion depenalization in Ecuador for victims of sexual violation

Sexual relations are considered as a human right, establishing the possibility of choosing or deciding with whom, how, when, where to have them and includes choosing how many and at what time to have children. Thus, it can be said that, making the decision to practice an abortion is entirely linked to the protection and respect of women's human rights, social and gender equity. The Ecuadorian comprehensive criminal code includes abortion for rape as a crime with imprisonment, allowed only in cases of rape of women with limited mental capacity. How to avoid prosecution of women victims of sexual violence who opt for abortion? The research aims to analyze the decriminalization of abortion as a mechanism to avoid the prosecution of women victims of sexual violence, analyzing the different positions that have been discussed on this practice of decriminalization at national and international level.
