Social rehabilitation process of the indigenous prison population in Ecuador

The general objective of the research was to legally analyze the process of social rehabilitation of the indigenous prison population in Ecuador. The quantitative method was used, which produces descriptive data, originating from data collection. It was supported by the documentary-bibliographic review. In addition, the inductive-deductive method was used. The analytical-synthetic method was also used. A survey was applied to 30 public officials, administrators of justice, free practice professionals and incarcerated indigenous people. It is concluded that, the persons deprived of freedom of the indigenous prison population, are not overcrowded in the penitentiary centers, because the indigenous justice is applied in each of the communities, peoples and nationalities of Ecuador, according to the Customary Law collaborating with the ordinary justice, acting in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador.
