Abstract

Objectives: To analyze pediatric ambulatory anesthesia (PAA) as an innovative program applicable to rural settings. Methods: A reflective essay based on a bibliographic review of scientific databases and an analysis of the healthcare reality in Falcón State. Results: PAA optimizes resources, reduces costs and nosocomial infections, and preserves children's psychosocial comfort. Although consolidated in urban reference centers, the rural environment lacks structured coverage. A safe and decentralized care model is proposed. Conclusions: Extending PAA to the rural sphere is a public health necessity that requires specialized training and institutional support.
