Psoriasis is a systemic inflammatory disease associated with cardiometabolic comorbidities. Objective: To analyze the evidence on the relationship between psoriasis and cardiovascular risk. Method: Systematized review in PubMed/MEDLINE and SciELO with predefined eligibility criteria; 8 studies were selected. Results: A meta-analysis of 31 cohorts showed a higher risk of myocardial infarction (RR 1.17), stroke (RR 1.19), and cardiovascular death (RR 1.46), greater in moderate-to-severe psoriasis (RR 1.41) than in mild psoriasis (RR 1.18). In young people with severe psoriasis, the relative risk of myocardial infarction reached 3.10. In Latin American series, metabolic syndrome affected 36% and 48% of patients. Conclusion: Psoriasis, especially severe psoriasis, is a cardiovascular risk factor that warrants systematic screening and control of risk factors.
