Selective fixation of the medial malleolus in unstable ankle fractures. A systematic review

This study was conducted to analyze selective fixation of the medial malleolus in unstable ankle fractures through a systematic review. The methodology employed was qualitative documentary research, with techniques focused on systematic review and content analysis. The instruments used included data collection forms and analysis matrices. In addition, the PRISMA methodology was used to select relevant studies. Notable findings included studies related to the use of minimally invasive techniques, weight-bearing for rehabilitation, surgery to prevent future disability, and elastic fixation. It was concluded that many of the selected studies offered various recovery methods that could be applied to individuals with unstable ankle fractures, on a case-by-case basis, to facilitate their prompt recovery.
