Consequences of mercury-containing restorations on the patient's oral health

Objective: To analyze the consequences of restorations with mercury on the oral health of the patient. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: Mercury restorations pose several challenges and concerns for both patients and dental professionals. Continuing education and research are crucial to fully understand the associated risks and benefits, and to develop effective strategies to ensure patient safety and well-being. Transitioning to alternative materials and sound mercury management practices are essential steps towards safer and more sustainable dentistry.
