Abstract

Objective: to analyze the assessment of oral hygiene habits in schoolchildren. Method: Descriptive observational. Results and conclusion: The results of this study provide a clear picture of oral hygiene habits in schoolchildren, highlighting both achievements and areas requiring additional attention. It was found that 55% of the children use only toothbrush and toothpaste, 33% also incorporate dental floss and mouthwash, and 12% use toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash. Eighty-six per cent of schoolchildren recognize the importance of changing their toothbrush every three months, although a small percentage still have misconceptions about the appropriate frequency. These findings underline the importance of implementing comprehensive educational programs in schools to improve oral hygiene practices and ensure optimal oral health from an early age.
