Abstract

Objective: To analyze the consumption of sugary foods and their dental influence in children. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results: The survey showed that the majority of responses were from males with 52% (n=54) and 48% (n=50) from females. Taking into account that the prevalent age with 72% (n=75) is 11 years old and the youngest respondent is 4% (n=4) 13 years old. Conclusion: The fact that only 55% of children receive adequate education on oral hygiene and healthy diet in their consultations highlights an urgent need to improve preventive dental practice. It is essential that dentists strengthen their educational role to ensure that each visit not only solves current problems, but also strengthens dental care habits that are fundamental to long-term oral health.
