Abstract

Objective: To assess the prevalence of dental caries in school-age children. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: The recommended and non-harmful treatment is fluoride application, the efficacy of fluoride as a cariostatic agent depends on the availability of free fluoride in plaque during acid production. Therefore, a constant supply of low levels of fluoride in biofilm/saliva/dental interference is considered the most beneficial in preventing dental caries.
