Abstract

Objective: To describe the phytochemical and pharmacological profile of Myrcianthes hallii to check if it could be used as a possible therapeutic alternative in view of the low production of new drugs and the existing antimicrobial resistance to certain drugs. Method: Descriptive documentary review of 15 scientific articles published in Scielo, Latindex, Redalyc, PubMed. Conclusion: The presence of different polyphenolic compounds with antibacterial activity found in the phytochemical characterization of Myrcianthes hallii leaf extract attribute to this silver antimicrobial activity against bacteria such as: S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, S. pyogenes and Enterococcus spp.
