Abstract

Objective: To provide an in-depth view of fibromyalgia, exploring its clinical characteristics, the challenges faced by patients and the most recent research on its diagnosis and treatment. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: Although the pathophysiology is not yet fully understood, it is believed to involve dysfunction in the pain modulation system in the central nervous system. The disease has a significant impact on patients' quality of life, and treatment focuses on symptom management through multidisciplinary approaches. As research progresses, it is expected that more knowledge will be gained about the pathophysiology of the disease and better therapeutic approaches will be developed to improve the quality of life of patients with fibromyalgia.
