Abstract

Objective: To strengthen nursing services with an intercultural approach generating strategies based on an integral analysis of patients. Method: Descriptive documentary. Results and conclusion: Nursing services with an intercultural approach in public health in Ecuador contribute to the quality of care provided by the nursing staff, in terms of prevention, timely diagnosis and follow-up of the patient's health condition. We must emphasize the importance of transcultural nursing promoted by Madeleine Lehninger, which allows discovering personal or cultural points of view regarding care in order to understand them, apply them and take advantage of this knowledge as a basis for care practices. The study of interculturality as a useful tool to develop an adequate communication between the patient and the nursing staff is fundamental in the professional training processes of the nursing staff.
