Objective: to analyze the risk factors for pre-eclampsia and their prevalence in Ecuador. Method: Descriptive observational documentary study. Results and conclusions: Pregnancies in women suffering from pre-eclampsia and Gestational Hypertension increased in recent years, generating a rate of approximately 30% of the population at national level of high-risk pregnancies, i.e. patients between the ages of 20 - 29 years represent 46% of pregnant women with pre-eclampsia, however, However, an alarming fact is that 15% of pregnant adolescents aged 15-19 years have complications due to pre-eclampsia. This increase is due to the lack of knowledge about healthy eating and advice on the appropriate conditions to develop a healthy pregnancy without risk of maternal or fetal death.
