Osteoporosis por déficit de Vitamina D

Objetivo: determinar el alcance que tiene la deficiencia de Vitamina D en el desarrollo de osteoporosis. Método: Revisión de carácter descriptiva. Resultados y conclusiones: La osteoporosis es una enfermedad crónica caracterizada por la pérdida de masa ósea, menor resistencia muscular y mayor riesgo de fracturas. En Ecuador, el 19% de los adultos mayores de 65 años padece osteoporosis. Esta patología es de origen multifactorial, siendo el déficit de Vitamina D una causa importante ya que, interviene en el metabolismo del calcio y el fósforo, elementos útiles para la formación ósea. Por tanto, es primordial establecer medidas de prevención enfocadas en este ámbito para reducir la aparición de la patología.
