Nursing intervention in adult patients with mental disorders in critical care units

Objective: to analyze nursing intervention in adult patients with mental disorders in critical care units. Method: Descriptive and cross-sectional. Results: 51.9% of the staff almost always value the presence of sedative medications as a factor for the development of mental disorders in hospitalized patients. Conclusion: In the first instance, regarding mental assessment, there are still shortcomings in the nursing staff regarding the assessment of the patient's mental state in all its dimensions, which, due to lack of information, scales that contribute to improvement in the evaluation of the cognitive state of the patient with mental disorder, that there is a decline in the use of a care plan focused on nursing diagnoses and therefore personalized interventions in each patient and its correct registration in the evaluation logs.
