Objective: to interpret the risks to develop in pressure ulcers in critical care units. Method: Systematic review of 15 articles published in PubMed. Results and conclusions: The effect of the number of treatments and invasive drugs should be taken into account, since it is directly proportional to the appearance of pressure ulcers; That is, the more treatments, the greater the risks. It was observed that patients who received more than 3 treatments (ventilator, sedation, vasoconstrictor and relaxants) had a higher probability of skin damage. The pressure ulcer prevention strategy is to initially assess the risk of admission and reassess the patient's skin throughout the hospital stay, since it has been observed that during the first hours of admission the patient is at risk of developing pressure ulcers. This risk increases the longer you stay in bed, up to 7 days.
