Objective: To identify the importance of the use of presurgical orthopedics in the early treatment of children with (LPH). Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: The combined use of orthopedic devices such as the obturator plate plus a nasal shaper in the first 3 months of life of the neonate offers great and important benefits in: alignment of the maxillary segments, and a good structuring of the nasal ala thus facilitating surgery and restoring the lost function and harmony. Multidisciplinary treatment is of utmost importance in cleft patients, improving in several aspects such as social, emotional and self-esteem during growth. Although there is not enough evidence we can conclude that patients treated with pre-surgical orthopedics have a better surgical outcome.
