Abstract

Objective: To know the potential of salivary components for the detection of COVID-19 and to propose salivary tests as a possible solution against the contagion of personnel and against the inconveniences involved in the collection of conventional diagnostic tests. Method: Bibliographic, documentary type. Conclusion: It was determined that saliva tests have multiple advantages in relation to conventional COVID-19 diagnostic tests, so it is feasible to carry out more studies to prove the potential diagnosis of COVID-19 in saliva and its impact on the transmission of this virus, this could improve effective prevention strategies, especially for dentists and health professionals who perform aerosol-generating procedures.
