Abstract

Objective: To determine the influence of Covid-19 on the reactivation of Herpes Zoster causing Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. Method: Systematic review through a descriptive study of scientific articles, written in English, Spanish and Portuguese and published between 2018 and 2022. Results and conclusions: There has been an increase in the incidence of herpes zoster virus reactivation in the year 2020 in Brazil. found an increase of 35.4% in diagnoses of herpes zoster during the pandemic, which could cause an increase in cases of Ramsey Hunt syndrome, 20 cases of herpes zoster oticus were reviewed during the pandemic period, it is concluded that the SARS-CoV-2 can generate leukopenia by reactivating the varicella Zoster virus due to the decrease in the number of CD3+ and CD8+ lymphocytes, causing Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which presents a varied neuropathic clinic, which can hide the characteristic symptoms.
