Abstract

Objective: To analyze the factors associated with the early abandonment of breastfeeding. Method: The research was documentary, which is the collection of information from various sources. Inquire about a topic in written or oral documents. Results and conclusions: There was a high incidence of EBF abandonment during the first six months of the newborn's life. This allows us to conclude that the predominant factors associated with such abandonment are strongly linked to mastitis, mastalgia, as well as hypogalactia, which causes mothers to wean early; as a second cause is being primiparous, which aggravates the fact that breastfeeding is lasting. Less recurring causes include social class, diseases of both the mother and the child, and finally, the last reason is the lack of decision on the breastfeeding method before delivery.
