Objective: The objective of this research was to know if chitosan biomaterials would be applied in the Intensive Care Unit for the prevention and treatment of PU, as well as to determine the factors and incidence that cause pressure ulcers. Method: The data was collected in the Google Forms application to the nursing staff working in the Intensive Care Unit. Results and conclusions: The study revealed that nursing care does not always prevent pressure ulcers, generally these cares are accompanied by support materials, knowing the benefits of Chitosan, it was determined that said compound is of great importance for use in prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in the Intensive Care Unit. The present study highlights the incidence factors for the development of pressure injuries in immobilized patients and the importance of the biomaterials of the Chitosan compound.
