Abstract

Objective: To analyze the role of the social worker with the families of patients in palliative care at the Fundación al Servicio del Enfermo de Cáncer "Lola Farfán de Palacios" (FASEC) in the period September 2021 - September 2022. Methods: Descriptive observational study. Results: The importance of the social worker developing, together with the patient's family, tools that allow them to cope in a better way with the loss of a loved one is reflected. The 87.80 % answered very much, 12.20 % answered moderately. This shows that the role of the social worker is to prepare the family for the death of their relative. Conclusion: The main actions of the social worker include: generating tools to face this problem, crisis intervention, promoting assertive decision making and improving communication between the family, the health team and the patient.
