Abstract

Objective: To analyze the functionality and applicability of electroencephalography in the diagnosis of psychiatric and neurological disorders. Method: Systematized review of articles by keyword selection in high impact bibliographic databases such as PudMed, Web Of Science and LILACS, leaving a final selection of 14 articles published from 2012 to 2022. Results: In the reviewed studies, the relationship between the appearance of the different disorders with alterations in the Event Related Potentials was evidenced, being these P200, P300, P500, as well as N100, N200 and N400. Conclusion: EEG can act as a biomarker to determine the presence of psychiatric and neurological disorders, data that accompanies a differential diagnosis.
