Abstract

Objective: To verify the adjustment indices of the Mini Mental State Examination. Method: The study was qualitative, the research design was bibliographic, which is based on the review of documentary material. Results: The scores obtained with the MMSE and the MoCA are related to each other; however, the scores on the MoCA are lower and present a greater dispersion in groups of different age and schooling, and a different cut-off point could be used to determine MCI in the population in the community; the factorial analysis described that the sensitivity and specificity indicators show adequate success rates; proposing the use of cutoff compression that prioritizes the sensitivity levels of the test. Conclusion: There is a variation in terms of the population criteria where it is used, with considerable validation to be executed in various contexts, which could contribute to increasing the effectiveness of MMSE.
