Abstract

Objective: To analyze the polymorphisms associated with susceptibility to dental caries. Method: bibliographic documentary type. Results: 15 articles directly related to the research objective. Conclusion: Genetic factors have an influence on susceptibility to caries, this is evidenced in the experimental studies that show that the genes that we have highlighted in this research have polymorphisms that indirectly affect susceptibility to caries, in spite of this the appearance of caries depends a lot on the etiological factors associated with it such as diet, time, age and microorganism; the above premise gives an answer as to why people with similar habits differ in the appearance of carious lesions.
