Abstract

This research arises from the need to know the level of overload of older adults; Who are now mothers-carers. Consequently, the general objective was to determine the overload of older adults; Mothers - caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities in the Tarapio Sector and Urb. El Molino, Valencia - Carabobo State. Based on the qualitative or phenomenological paradigm, through a case study. The nature of the study was exploratory - descriptive and field. The population consisted of two older adults. A non-experimental-transverse design was applied and the in-depth interview, non-participant observation and reporting
were used as techniques. Using as an instrument the caregiver burden interview (Zarit), the tape recorder, notebook and the interview guide. The information gathered allowed us to determine that there is no overload in older adult caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities in the Tarapio Sector and Urb. El Molino, Valencia - Carabobo State. It is also important to note that the use of the Zarit scale was contrasted with the interview, which allowed the authors to contrast and confirm the data on the cases studied in the research.
