Prevalencia de automedicación en estudiantes universitarios

Resumen

Objetivo: analizar la prevalencia de automedicación en estudiantes universitarios. Método: Descriptivo documental. Conclusión: La automedicación puede llevar a la interrupción prematura del tratamiento, dosis inadecuadas y uso prolongado de medicamentos, resultando en efectos adversos graves y complicaciones médicas. Factores como la facilidad de acceso a medicamentos, la percepción de que ciertos síntomas no requieren consulta médica, y la influencia de la publicidad y recomendaciones de familiares y amigos, contribuyen a esta práctica. El uso indebido de antibióticos es especialmente preocupante debido a su contribución a la resistencia bacteriana.
