Futilidad terapéutica y obstinación familiar en la terapia intensiva: la perspectiva del profesional de enfermería

Objetivo: Analizar la futilidad terapéutica y obstinación familiar en la terapia intensiva: la perspectiva del profesional de enfermería. Método: Descriptiva documental. Resultados y Conclusión: La relación de la enfermería con la futilidad terapéutica en salas de terapia intensiva sigue siendo un tema de interés, debido a la corriente creciente de evitar el sufrimiento del enfermo terminal. La adecuación del esfuerzo terapéutico es en la actualidad una buena práctica clínica, la cual debe ser protocolizada y aplicada en las instituciones de salud del país, para que se realice un abordaje consensuado y basado en la evidencia científica, contribuyendo a la toma de decisiones oportunas y éticas sobre la terapéutica a emplearse, de tal forma que el principal beneficiario sea el paciente, evitándose medidas innecesarias o fútiles que le causen dolor o conflictos en la esfera física, emocional o económica, tanto al paciente como a su familia.
