Virtual education and pre-professional practices in dentistry in the context of pandemic

Abstract

The recent pandemic crisis that started in Ecuador during the first quarter of the year 2020, caused by the SARS-COV 2 virus, caused a great change in the health system as well as in the educational system, the latter was affected by the cessation of face-to-face functions at the educational level and started a virtual education. The present research aims to summarize the challenges perceived by the students of the Dentistry Career, Cuenca-Ecuador of virtual education and pre-professional practices: pandemic context. A descriptive study was carried out. In relation to the group of respondents, 64.4% of students considered that the virtual modality represented a high affection in their clinical performance, as well as 70.3% of students considered that they needed a considerably high time of practice in order to complement their practical learning.
