The development of mathematical modeling competence in elementary school students

The general objective of the research was to describe the development of mathematical modeling competence in elementary school students. The research was developed from the quantitative paradigm, also framed from a documentary-bibliographic design, through inquiry, collection and critical documentary and bibliographic reference analysis, based on the methodical, rigorous and deep exploration of various documentary sources such as scientific research, articles and refereed papers, theses, among others. Describing the findings found, allowing the development of the theoretical body in relation to the topic. It is concluded that the teaching of mathematics through the development of competences based on modeling in basic education students constitutes a tool of great importance to formulate, solve, interpret and validate through the formulation of problems the meaningful teaching of mathematics, providing a dynamic, innovative and motivating learning development for students. Since it allows their application to real facts.
