Objective: To analyze the level of knowledge of Papanicolaou among first semester obstetrics students of the Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes. Method: Descriptive observational, the oblation was 18 students of the first semester of obstetrics. Conclusion: The study reveals important gaps in knowledge and access to Pap smears among first semester midwifery students, which reflects the need to implement more effective educational strategies to promote greater awareness of the periodicity and importance of this test in the prevention of cervical cancer. Although a majority of respondents acknowledge the test, there remains a lack of clarity about its frequency and the number of people who should be screened, underscoring the need for improved information dissemination in public and academic settings.
