Educational artificial intelligence and governance. Normative ethical approach in the university context

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education faces challenges such as governance, ethics, and regulations. The objective of the research was to propose a conceptual model that guides the implementation of educational artificial intelligence and university governance from an ethical-normative approach. A review of the scientific literature of the last seven years was carried out in indexed databases. Four axes were identified: institutional governance, ethics and algorithmic biases, academic integrity and evaluation, and AI literacy. While AI offers opportunities for the personalization of learning and improving educational processes, there are risks associated with privacy, fairness, and academic integrity. As a contribution, a governance model structured in normative, organizational, pedagogical and formative dimensions is proposed, articulated by principles of human supervision and participation. It is concluded that its implementation requires systemic approaches that integrate regulation, pedagogy and development of critical competencies.
