Legal factors that ensure environmental quality in protected areas

The general objective of the research was to legally analyse the legal factors that ensure environmental quality in protected areas. The present research used the quantitative method which produces descriptive data, originating from data collection. Supported by the documentary-bibliographic review. In addition, the inductive-deductive method was used. The analytical-synthetic method was also used. A survey was applied to 20 people, including inhabitants of the areas surrounding the reserve, people knowledgeable about the problem and legal professionals. It was concluded that international treaties, as well as Ecuadorian legal texts and regulations in force, recognise nature as a subject of rights, which must be fully respected in terms of its existence, maintenance and regeneration. These legal texts also aim to guarantee the right of people to live in a healthy and ecologically balanced environment.
