Preventing theft of private property

The general objective of the research was to carry out a legal analysis of the prevention of theft of private property. The method used in the research was based on a qualitative approach, involving the collection and analysis of a documentary-bibliographic typology. In addition, a participatory action-research approach was adopted. It is concluded that the results obtained through participatory action research in the Las Palmas neighbourhood have revealed the significant problem of a lack of community surveillance, which negatively affects residents' perception of security and increases the risk of theft of private property. This lack has led many residents to take additional measures to protect their homes, such as installing security systems and reinforcing locks.
