Abstract

The general objective of this research was to legally analyze the Municipal protection of urban fauna due to the death and mistreatment of dogs in Quevedo, Ecuador. The methodology used in the research was based on the qualitative approach, managing the collection and analysis of a documentary-bibliographic typology, which allowed organizing an analysis of the object of study, with the purpose of proposing a critical legal analysis of the norm based on experts in the field. The research technique applied was the interview; the tool that supported the guide in a structured manner, taking as population and as a sample five people and some representatives of the Decentralized Autonomous Government of the canton Quevedo, it is a non-probabilistic qualitative research by participation. It is concluded that companion animals are subjects of rights, and that the Supreme Norm establishes that the State must guarantee the enjoyment of these rights.
