Influence of IOT on cost efficiency in the transportation and logistics sector

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a series of devices connected to the network, enabling communication between them and with the cloud using various technologies. This research aims to analyze the relationship between the implementation of IoT and operational cost efficiency in the transportation and logistics sector in Cuenca, Ecuador. A quantitative approach was used. The results show moderate and strong correlations between the use of IoT and improved efficiency in operating costs, highlighting the reduction of labor costs and greater operational sustainability. It is concluded that, despite the progress made, the adoption of IoT is still limited, which poses challenges for its implementation, even though its impact on competitiveness and sustainability is positive.
