State efficiency in the face of conurbation as the formation of marginal urban areas

In this research, a literature review was carried out in academic databases (Redalyc, Scopus and Scielo), with the objective of analyzing the efficiency of the state in the face of conurbation as the formation of marginal urban zones, obtaining, after a selection filter, a total of 12 articles that were included in the review. The results indicated that industrial development is the driving force of conurbation processes, and its basic conception of geographic integration is not sufficient to cover the social, economic, political and environmental impact resulting from the integration of geographic zones that retain administrative independence. It is concluded that, in such a complex context as the emergence of conurbations, the state has to play the role of regulator and planner, contemplating regulations aimed at providing quality of life to the inhabitants, reducing environmental impact and narrowing social gaps.
