Abstract

Unemployment, and employment discrimination based on gender, is a recurrent phenomenon that causes a certain level of economic and social consequences. Despite recent advances in gender equality in the labor market, gender is an important factor when it comes to finding a job, taking into account that the law establishes that no human being should be discriminated against. This study aims to determine whether gender is one of the main causes of unemployment and job discrimination. The methodology used in the construction of the work is bibliographic and based on descriptive information: the level of correlation and explanation was used with a quantitative approach. On the one hand, the main cause for women is discrimination, while for men it is the low labor demand in the service sector. This shows that the paradigm of assigning tasks according to gender is maintained and generates discrimination by disregarding people's abilities and aptitudes.
